Essence or Remedy? What's the Diff?

A rose is a rose is a rose. By any other name it will still smell as sweet.  Wm. Shakespeare paraphrase

For many years in the United States we were not allowed to call the Remedies  "Remedies" because in the U.S. a Remedy was a medical term used for products that had been proven to have medical value. Clinical studies in Europe were not accepted in the U.S.

However, this  has caused and still causes confusion for many simply because there is another legitimate healing system using  essential oils of plants, many of them flowers, that are called what they truly are: Essences.  They are for external use, they are not taken internally, as the Bach Flowers are for the most part taken internally. But when people hear about a healing system with he word FLOWER in it they naturally think first of the essential oil system.

The Bach Flower Remedy system has been  denoted internationally since the late 1930's as  REMEDIES. Homeopathic remedies qualified to be called "remedies" in the U.S. And so, finally a few years ago the Bach Flower Remedies started using their latininzed names for the flowers on the labels and are included in the Homeopathic Materia Medica therefore , along with a few clinical studies in the U.S., they are at last  legally in the USA allowed to be called by the rightful , internationally used term, REMEDY.

A Bach Flower Remedy is and always has been a Bach Flower Remedy, by whatever essence name it has been called.  J Nonymous
