LARCH: When You Feel You Are Just Not (Good) Enough

“For those who do not consider themselves as good or capable as those around them,
who expect failure, who feel that they will never be a success, and so do not venture or make a strong enough attempt to succeed.”Edward Bach, The Twelve Healers & Other Remedies, 1936

Some of us may wonder if we were born with this seeming lack of self-confidence . There are  others of us who can remember a comment or event by which esteem  was stolen from us. There are times for all of us when a couple drops of Larch in a treatment bottle to take with us in our purse or brief case or a couple of drops in a sipping cup on the kitchen counter will gently remove the sense of lack of faith in our abilities, in our very selves and talents that stymy us from pursuing our lives. Subtly, drop by drop Larch will begin to energize us to take the risk. Step up to the challenge. DO IT. Whatever our hearts have been longing to do. whatever we have turned aside from,  fearing absolute failure and foolishness, or, actually believing we would fail at, Larch goes to bat for us. Larch supports that spark of life within that knows what we are capable of, what we believed we we capable of as children, just because we wanted to try it.
BFRPs are told stories, and have the experience themselves at times,  of courage surfacing as we learns to swim, or ski, or travel overseas as we  longed to do. Or, as this writer can tell, a story of Larch giving courage to  start a business, and  coming to believe that even failure is not failure, but a learning experience that educates one for future success. Yes, Larch opens these doors of the heart and windows to the blue skies. Two drops in a treatment bottle, then four drops four times a day for two to three weeks, If you want to, supported by Larch energy and grace,  you will gain the strength and courage that says Yes. I CAN.

Treat the patient not the disease.

The Medicine Cabinet*---Apple Cider Vinegar for Restless Leg Syndrome

I am featuring a link about a home remedy that has helped some people with restless leg syndrome.  You can read the full article if you click on the link below.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Restless Leg Syndrome: ("I was talking to a friend of mine who takes 1 Tbsp. of apple vinegar cider nightly for years and has not had to take any other medication since for it....")

Since this was a short-lived problem for me and for some of my friends for which yoga, magnesium, decreased caffeine and other home remedy/non-medical solutions prevailed, I wanted to pass on another effective alternative solution concerning apple cider vinegar.  Apple cider vinegar was a sort of panacea , useful and effective, back in the days before modern medicine. It still has an important place in a healer's tool kit.

As a Bach Flower Remedy practitioner, I would also remind my readers about Rescue Remedy (see Labels for more information about Rescue Remedy)--concentrate (liquid-diluted or undiluted)  or cream  Always useful to relieve the stress of an acute--short-term--problem.

If the restless leg syndrome becomes chronic there are even more alternative ways to deal with it, including acupuncture and chiropracty.  Flower remedies would also be very beneficial, but in this case, (meaning it is a chronic, not an acute, problem)  the practitioner would want to prepare an individualized combination that uses Dr. Bach 's principle of "TREAT THE PATIENT, NOT THE DISEASE."

Contact me via bachflowerremdiesfortoday@blogspot.com if you wuld like a consultation.

A picture of the working corner of this Bach Flower Registered Practitioner's kitchen

I use many vitamins and supplements along with my Bach Flower Remedies to maintain my well-being, and thought an un-modified view of a corner counter of mine could be a picture speaking a thousand words perhaps of how the Flower Remedies are an integrated part of my life.

Dr. Bach had intended his discoveries to become as common to every family as their growing of lettuce in their garden and when needing some lettuce, to pluck some and eat it and then when needing some Clematis or White Chestnut, to add a couple drops to the water glass for the day.

The mandate that Dr. Bach left Nora Weeks and Victor Bullen, and is carried and maintained by the Trustees of the Bach Centre in Mount Vernon, England, is that Practitioner's main job is to teach our clients how to become independent in their use and choices of the individual remedies and their combinations for themselves, their loved ones, as well as for their plants and pets.

My hope, desire and dream is that eventually every kitchen will have a corner similar to mine!

Beech--Intolerance or Acceptance? A Remedy for our times

  1. The spectrum between intolerance at the far end of outright disgust with and prejudice against another person, place or thing and the inner subtle feeling of superiority and "better than" inward judgment between one's self and another all fall within the scope of the Bach Flower Remedy, Beech, in its negative state.

Whether discreet or in your face apparent, this state is not only hard on the people who are associated with someone carrying these thoughts and feelings, it is highly detrimental to the contentment and ultimate happiness of the one harboring this posture.
Eventually, no one and nothing will meet the high standards of the negative  Beech state. The carrier of this energy is of course the ultimate standard in one's person or in the commonality of the group that no one else, or, no other group, can live up to or surpass. One becomes cut off eventually from the bulk of humanity and from seeing the beauty in the diversity of human life.

Dr. Bach said of this state: It is obvious that none of us is in a position to judge or criticize others for the wisest of us sees or knows only the minutest fragment of the great scheme of all things, and we cannot judge, knowing so little, how the great plan will work. (from BLOOM by Stefan Ball, p.205).

During an election year, we might find this state easily observable in our thoughts, and knowing that allowing them to grow is as harmful to one's serenity as a poison, we are thankful for an antidote, a balm. Beech opens us again to the acceptance of another's differences. Even to accept traits in others we do not like, without cutting them off or wanting them to change. The beauty in diversity is once again appreciated and valued and equanimity is restored. As gently and easily as four drops of this liquid magic four times per day from a treatment bottle will once again restore one to the person one chooses to be. Thank you Dr. Bach, and Beech.

    The Journey to Simple Healing

Far ahead of his time with his observations and his discoveries , these videos are an enjoyable way to become better acquainted with this Pioneer in the Medicine of Wellness, Dr. Edward Bach.

I have now collected all three of the 10-15 minute videos (The Journey to Simple Healing, Parts 1 -3) onto one blog post.

The link to Part One is HERE.

Insightful observations of human nature,  character differences and similarities, personality predispositions and varying moods among his patients led him to search   for the response in nature that would bring a person into what he called "harmony with one's soul."

The link to Part Two is HERE

Dr. Bach had noticed how some people, including himself, were predicted to die, and they recovered, while others did not  recover, and even would die, when that did not match the prediction of the conventional  medical model.

The link to Part Three is HERE

Today he would be classified as a neuro-psycho-immunologist. Simlpy put, this is  medicine that researches our thoughts and feelings and their affect upon our health and well-being.

    Which Remedy Do I Need?

Choosing remedies, especially at first, is a daunting task for most.

(Look under LABELS for articles covering all 38 remedies)

We look all of them over and realize we need THEM ALL!

or at least two thirds of them!

however , we have come to understand that we must limit our selection in order to receive the most helpful results.

    What to do?

And how about that Vine and Beech and Holly? How could I EVER need those? Who? Me?

Much of the literature and teaching concerning the 38 remedies
presents the negative conditions that the particular remedy will ameliorate.  Subconsciously we can begin to see ourselves as nothing but bundles of negative problems and become numb or overwhelmed.

Dr. Bach himself always comes to the rescue. In this situation it is with something he noted in 1930 as he was pointing out what he as a physician understood about the "negative states" he was observing in his beloved patients: "...the negatives are always and only the means to an end...  "we only judge the faults and failings and the adverse circumstances of a patient as an indication of the good he is endeavoring to develop.' " (from BLOOM by Stefan Ball, page 226)

As we notice the blues, or feeling uneasy or even at times upset, a little miffed (I am going easy on us here :<)  ), and then look at the 38 remedies to see if one of them might help us feel more like our best selves, what we are doing is just what Dr. Bach noted: we are endeavoring to develop the good in ourselves that needs support at that time.

It has been conclusively proven that the Bach Flower Remedies, with up to two millions different combinations (when the remedies are combined, using up to, but not more than, seven remedies at a time) for personalized combination treatment bottles, make the Bach Flower Remedy system of healing another Wonder of the World, as far as this Practitioner is concerned.

White Chestnut: When thoughts go round and round.

Google stock image of White Chestnut tree blossoms

A friend who had started a business was having trouble sleeping. Thoughts about what he had to do tomorrow and forgot to do today raced like racing cars through his mind and no one was winning. This is called by some "spinning thinking."

I suggested he try White Chestnut and one night he woke up with his mind racing with the thoughts  and as he reached for the treatment bottle with White Chestnut in it he thought to himself "I wonder if this stuff is really working."  He clumsily got his 4 drops onto his tongue after a couple had landed in his eye.

The next morning he woke up (notice, he had fallen back to sleep) and could not even remember what thoughts had awakened him.   White Chestnut.

When our thoughts are acting like untamed horses White Chestnut will come in and calm the stable down.

White Chestnut is added by some to "sleep " combinations of remedies, but if racing thoughts are not at least one of the causes of wakefulness, White Chestnut would not be necessary, nor helpful.

As with all flower remedies, the great blessing and beauty of using these gentle but powerful healers is that if you take an unnecessary  or unneeded remedy by itself or in combination with others, it will never harm you or decrease the effectiveness of whatever else you are doing for your  health needs.

    Flower Remedies For Mindfulness

I was reading an interesting article on the practice of Mindfulness creating brain health  which you can read here   I could not help but think of how the Bach Flower Remedy system has been supporting this thing called "Mindfulness" in every way since the creation of this simple system of healing in the 1930's.
    .
My very first experience of this was when I took them for a cross-continent flight (which flights had been getting harder and harder for  me to take)....I had too many remembrances of what had happened to other airline flights and a great many  imaginations for what MIGHT happen to me on this flight... My father having been a pilot himself did nothing to assuage my fears.

Aspen, Mimulus and Rock Rose @ 4 drops 4 times per day starting 3 days before the flight  along with Rescue Remedy in between  the treatment bottle doses caused me to pay attention (stay present, be mindful)  to only what was happening during that flight! A lovely, interesting, uneventful wonderful experience of getting to California easily and quickly.

As the herbs heal our fears, our anxieties, our worries, our faults and our failings, it is these we must seek, and then the dis-ease, no matter what it is, will leave us.

    ---Dr. Edward Bach

The ORIGINAL Bach Flower Remedies: Why the ORIGINAL in Original?

There is a reason why the Original distributor is important to your health and well-being. Towards the bottom of the information contained in this link below  is a paragraph about the relationship that Nelson's has had to the Bach Centre in Mount Vernon since Dr. Bach chose them to be the bottlers and distributors for him in the 1930's. Among other things, they are still using the seedlings of the original plants and/or  the original plants themselves to prepare the rmemdies they are selling.

    More Suggestions for Pets

Bach Flower Remedies have just as fantastic results when given to pets as they have when they  help we humans.

My first experience with using the remedies for pets was for an apparently dying Japanese fighting fish of a friend. Two drops of Rescue Remedy and Mimulus  in the bowl and the fish was totally revived and lived for a long time (in years) afterwards.

That was over 10 years ago and the story is somewhere in my notes. I will get the details to you but don't want to hold back on passing on this link to the Bach Centre in Mount Vernon that covers their suggestions for Pets.

Do Pets Know BFRs Are Placebos?

I always love it when I can tell people that plants and pets respond to the Bach Flower Remedies as definitely as any person I have recommended them to when I am reminded by someone of the Placebo Effect.

I believe it was Andrew Weil who said "anyway--so what's wrong with the placebo effect? What's wrong with someone feeling better for any reason?"

But having said that all, I am posting this great link   here   written by a Bach Registered Practitioner who also is registered for practicing with animals using the Bach Flower Remedies. For dog, cat, parakeet and other small animal lovers, enjoy your read!

    Rescue Remedy Under the Gun

Clinical testing as proof of Rescue Remedy's

effectiveness for acute severe anxiety states'  is to be found  here.

A great team of BFR practitioners and scientists put Dr. Bach's amazing stress and anxiety dynamo to all the tests modern man can devise---and have proven clinically what we who use it and have received benefit  from it so many times already know.

This is a long article so you will find the "meat" of the findings on the page  with the "Discussion" heading.
